Two arrested at Walgreens during an interrupted organized retail theft
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., September 5, 2023 - On Monday morning, just before 9:00 AM, American Canyon Police Officers were driving past Walgreens and saw two people walking together who were about to enter the store wearing face masks and hoodies. Both saw the officers near Walgreens; and rather than continuing into the store, they immediately tried to leave. Based on the circumstances, officers believed they were about to go into Walgreens to commit an organized retail theft. Officers detained them both before leaving to investigate.
The two were identified as 23-year-old Sacramento resident Prinzess Lee and 22-year-old Oakland resident Zariadeshaonna Russell. Officers learned Lee was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) from the California Department of Corrections. During a search of their car, officers recovered thousands of dollars of stolen Walgreens merchandise. The stolen items appeared to be from an organized retail theft that occurred at Walgreens in Walnut Creek just two days earlier. Additional evidence indicating they were both involved in organized theft was also found on their person. Officers arrested Lee and Russell for four felony charges related to the incident in American Canyon and booked them into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
