American Canyon invites residents to participate in Clean Sweep Month
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 29, 2023, 9:00 AM - American Canyon takes pride in observing Clean Sweep Month throughout the month of September. The month-long observance encourages residents to cultivate clutter-free spaces by eliminating littering and prioritizing the reduction of solid waste.
“As we embrace Clean Sweep Month throughout September, we invite our community to practice sustainability by finding creative ways to revitalize unused items and reducing waste at home,” said City Manager Jason Holley. “By joining forces to clear clutter and prioritize waste reduction, we’re creating a cleaner, greener future for American Canyon.”
As part of Clean Sweep Month, community members will have the opportunity to schedule one extra bulky curbside pickup, which is dedicated to unwanted items too large to fit in the trash container (2 cubic yards max - equivalent to ten 32-gallon plastic bags). The offer is valid from September 1 through 30, 2023, and the following are acceptable items for the pickup:
Large appliances
Refrigerators
Freezers
Air conditioners
Sofas
Tables
To schedule this free bonus bulky item pickup, interested residential Recology customers may call (707) 552-3110.
In addition, residents are invited to attend the Final Sweep Event on September 16 at the Phillip West Aquatic Center parking lot (100 Benton Way) for free disposal of tires and on-site paper shredding. The event will take place from 9 AM to 12 PM, and no coupon is needed to attend. The event will provide residents an opportunity to drop off old tires free of charge. Tires up to 22” and tires with rims will be accepted. No tires from waste tire businesses will be accepted. There is a limit of nine tires per vehicle, and customers may take multiple trips if necessary. The tire collection is a collaboration with the County of Napa and is funded by CalRecycle’s Tire Amnesty Grant Program.
As American Canyon seeks to evaluate the current level of service residents receive, waste customers are encouraged to complete the Recology Vallejo-American Canyon Customer Service Satisfaction survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z992STM.
