Vallejo man arrested for gun charges following vehicle pursuit

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 14, 2023 - On August 13, 2023, shortly before 4:00 PM, American Canyon Police stopped a gold Lexus sedan for expired vehicle registration in the area of northbound California State Route (SR) 29 and Donaldson Way. As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, the driver drove away onto SR 29 at a high rate of speed. Less than one mile later, the Lexus drove up onto a curb at the corner of SR 29 and Eucalyptus Drive, and the vehicle became disabled.

The driver, 18-year-old Vallejo resident David Brinkley, fled on foot southbound through a business complex. During the foot chase, Brinkley attempted to throw a loaded black P80 Glock Style Firearm onto a roof of a nearby business, which ended up bouncing off and landing on the ground. For public safety, the officer stopped pursuing Brinkley to secure the firearm.

Additional ACPD officers arrived on scene a short distance away, in the 100 block of South Napa Junction Road, and took Brinkley into custody. Officers learned Brinkley is currently out on bail for similar felony evading charges in Solano County. He was arrested for numerous felony and misdemeanor charges related to firearm possession and evading officers. Brinkley was then booked into the Napa County Jail.
