Vehicle burglary suspect arrested in American Canyon

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 11, 2023 - On August 10, 2023, around 7:30 AM, American Canyon Police officers received a report of a vehicle burglary that occurred earlier that morning in the 5000 block of Main Street. The information indicated that a male wearing a dark hoodie and driving a blue Honda broke the back window of a parked car, reached into the car and stole the victim’s luggage. American Canyon officers reviewed video footage that captured the incident.

About an hour later, officers located the same blue Honda back in the area and conducted a traffic stop on the car. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Vallejo resident Timothy Mitchell and was detained. Mitchell was wearing the same clothing as the person in the video breaking into the car and had a device to break windows on his person. Broken glass was also found on the floorboard of his Honda. Mitchell was placed under arrest for vehicle burglary and violation of his Contra Costa County probation terms. He was then booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
