Driver Arrested After a Short Standoff During a Traffic Stop on Highway 29
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., July 13, 2023, 11:30 AM - On Thursday morning, July 13, 2023, just before 9:30 AM, officers spotted a stolen 2019 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on Highway 29 in American Canyon. During a traffic stop of the car, the driver refused to exit the car and comply with the officers’ commands. For safety, the southbound lanes of Highway 29 near Mid City Nursery were temporarily shut down during a short standoff between the driver and officers.
With the assistance of a Napa Sheriff’s drone that was deployed, officers could see the driver was alert inside the car and kept reaching into a wood box instead of exiting the car. After more announcements were made to the driver with non-compliance, less lethal bean bag rounds were deployed toward the car. Following, the driver exited the car and was safely taken into custody without injury. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Sabrina Annal of Fairfield, CA. Officers learned Annal had multiple felony warrants from Solano County for vehicle theft, vehicle pursuits, and hit and run. Annal was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for her warrants as well as charges related to this incident for vehicle theft, felon in possession of a stun gun, and resisting arrest.
