Honoring and Remembering Our Fallen Heroes:
American Canyon Community to Observe Memorial Day

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., May 17, 2023, As Memorial Day approaches, the American Canyon community is preparing to pay tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. American Canyon is proud to announce its Memorial Day Ceremony, which will take place on Monday, May 29th, at 11:00 AM. The ceremony will be held at the American Canyon Veterans Memorial Park at 2801 Broadway Street. The event is co-hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1123, American Canyon Troop Support, and American Canyon Lions Club. The ceremony is open to the public, is expected to last for approximately one hour, and will include refreshments.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will include a presentation of colors by the American Canyon Army Recruiting Station, a rendition of the National Anthem performed by American Canyon High School's Public Display of Acapella (PDA), the Pledge of Allegiance led by Napa Junction Elementary fifth grade students, and a special tribute to the fallen where attendees are invited to honor their loved ones by placing a personalized flag in their memory during a bell-ringing ceremony (supplies will be provided). The keynote speaker for the event is Kim Beasley, active-duty military spouse and Mental Health Professional with E5 Therapy who provides services to veterans, active military, and their family members. The ceremony will close with the playing of Taps by American Canyon High School student Jessie Martinez.

"This Memorial Day Ceremony is an opportunity for us to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country," said Vice Mayor, United States Navy Veteran, and VFW Post 1123 Jr. Vice Commander Pierre Washington. "It's also a chance for us to come together as a community and show our support for those who have served and continue to serve our country."
