April 28, 2023
During the past few years, American Canyon has answered our calls to conserve water. Thanks to plentiful rain and the massive Sierra snowpack this past winter, the Department of Water Resources announced a 100% allocation from the State Water Project this year. Since this is a significant source of our water, it's great news!
Over the past two years, American Canyon provided residential access to recycled water for irrigation. In 2022, the Recycled Water Delivery Program allowed American Canyon to conserve more than 3-million gallons of potable water during emergency drought conditions. With a full allocation and improvements to this year's drought condition forecast, American Canyon will not continue the Recycled Water Delivery Program into 2023.
To expand access to recycled water, soon, our team will install self-service recycled water fill stations on both the east and west sides of town. These stations will be accessible 24/7 with a key card/pin. Residents will continue to have access to the self-serve recycled water fill stations at 205 Wetlands Edge Rd (Corporation Yard) and 151 Mezzetta Ct (Water Reclamation Facility). American Canyon will consider restoration of the delivery program in years when our water allocation is low, and drought conditions are bleak. More information about American Canyon's Residential Recycled Water Program is available at www.cityofamericancanyon.org/recycledwater.
