Three Go to Jail Last Night for Crimes Related to Thievery

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., March 23, 2023 - On March 22, 2023, shortly before 10:00 PM, American Canyon Police Officers located a suspicious white Acura backed into the U-Haul business on Paoli Loop Road. U-Haul had recent reports of catalytic converter theft, and officers have been patrolling the area. The license plates on the Acura belonged to a Chevy Trailblazer, and the Acura was reported stolen. Officers searched the area and found two males hiding around a corner not far from the stolen car. One male, identified as 31-year-old Benicia resident Matthew Brown, later ran from officers when found, and officers chased after him. Brown decided to stop running after hearing American Canyon Police Department Canine Brick barking in the distance, along with his handler’s announcements that Brick would be deployed to get him if he did not stop.

The second male attempted to walk away in the opposite direction. Officers detained and identified him as 45-year-old Vallejo resident Christopher Anderson. Anderson had Sawzall blades and a flashlight in his pockets, which are common tools to steal catalytic converters. A cordless Sawzall tool was also found on the backseat of the stolen car. Both Brown and Anderson were arrested for possession of burglary tools and crimes related to the incident. Brown received additional charges for running away from officers and for his felony warrant from Sacramento County.

Just as things were settling down, only 20 minutes later and one mile away, officers received a report of someone trespassing inside the closed locked lot of Pick N Pull business on Highway 29. After setting a perimeter at the business, along with the assistance of a CHP air unit and Napa Sheriff’s deputies, officers found 36-year-old Sonoma County probationer Corey Williams trespassing inside. Williams was found carrying a backpack full of mechanic tools. He was arrested for trespassing and for violation of his probation terms. All three men were booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
