Man Attacked Sunday Night in American Canyon, Investigation Leads to an Arrest in Napa

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., February 22, 2023 - On Sunday, February 19, 2023, just after 10 P.M., the American Canyon Police were called to a restaurant near 5075 Main Street for a report of a fight. Once there, officers saw an adult male suffering from significant wounds to his head. Officers learned the victim was eating in the restaurant when he was suddenly attacked and punched multiple times by another adult male. The suspect fled the scene after the attack. The victim sustained major injuries during the assault and was treated at the Queen of the Valley Hospital and at the UC Davis Medical Center. Leads in the case were investigated, and it was determined the victim was targeted. On February 21, 2023, the Napa Sheriff’s Investigations Division obtained a warrant for the arrest of 19-year-old Joaquin Cervantes related to the incident. The warrant was served at Cervantes’s home in Napa on Tuesday afternoon by Napa Sheriff’s Detectives and the assistance of the Napa Special Investigations Bureau. Cervantes was arrested without incident and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for felony charges related to the assault. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail awaiting court.
