American Canyon Police Officers Arrest Man for Possession of Stolen Mail and Methamphetamine

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., February 21, 2023 - On Monday, February 20, 2023, afternoon, the American Canyon Police made a traffic stop after a driver of a vehicle ran a stop sign at Broadway and Cartagena Way. During contact with the officer, the front passenger said he had been arrested in the past but provided a false name to identify himself. Officers were able to positively identify the man as 46-year-old Pelesi Tuitele of Vallejo. During a search of Tuitele’s backpack, it was discovered the backpack was filled with stolen mail. The mail included Department of Motor Vehicle records, utility bill records and other mail containing personal identifying information for over ten victims. Teitele was placed under arrest and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections. His charges included felony identity theft, possession of a controlled substance and providing a false name to police. Officers are still investigating the incident and attempting to notify all the victims.
