Walmart Theft Results in Arrest for Drug Sales
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., February 7, 2023 - On Monday, February 6, 2023, at approximately 11 PM, American Canyon Police Officers were called to Walmart in the City for a report of a theft. A Walmart loss prevention employee reported that an adult male had stolen store merchandise and fled the area in a dark gray SUV. The loss prevention employee also provided a description of the male and a license plate for the vehicle. American Canyon Police Officers located the male in the described vehicle parked nearby in an adjacent shopping complex. The male was contacted and identified as 52-year-old Vallejo resident Steven Nelson. Officers located a hoverboard inside of his vehicle, which Nelson admitted to stealing from Walmart. Officers also located 437 illegal MDMA (Ecstasy) pills and a small amount of cocaine in a large plastic bag inside the car, which appeared to be for sales. Nelson was arrested and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for possession of a controlled substance for sales, petty theft, and felon in possession of pepper spray.
