MAN ARRESTED AFTER HOLDING GIRLFRIEND HOSTAGE AND THREATENING TO BURN THE HOUSE DOWN

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., January 9, 2023, 11:55 AM - On Sunday, January 8, 2023, shortly after 4:00 PM, the American Canyon Police Department was called to a residence in the 100 block of Via Bellagio Drive for a report of threats. When officers arrived, they learned 39-year-old American Canyon resident Aldwin Bulaun had his girlfriend locked with him in a back bedroom of the home. Bulaun was actively preventing her from leaving the bedroom and was making threats to burn the entire house down with her inside.

American Canyon officers were able to evacuate other occupants from the home and negotiate with Bulaun to open the bedroom door. The victim was yelling for help during this time. Once Bulaun opened the bedroom door, he resisted officers’ directions to comply further, but officers were able place Bulaun under arrest. The victim was freed from the bedroom and remained uninjured from the incident. Bulaun was booked into Napa County Department for false imprisonment and obstructing and resisting arrest, both felony charges. As of Monday morning (January 9, 2023), Bulaun was still in custody awaiting arraignment.
