Upgrades to American Canyon’s My Water Portal Tool Empowers and Rewards Residents to Achieve Water Conservation Goals

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., August 4, 2022 – The City of American Canyon continues to innovate in the water conservation space by rolling out enhancements to its existing “My Water Portal”, partnering with MyAquaTrax to improve the customer experience and simplify the process of tracking water consumption. The upgraded My Water Portal experience will be available to new and existing customers beginning the first week of August 2022.

The latest version features exciting upgrades and incentives, including a water allocation calculator, the addition of ‘water coin’ rewards, and water use comparisons. These elements help customers understand how their water consumption stacks up against state standards, local water use, and even water consumption amongst their neighbors. The new My Water Portal layout is also available as a mobile app called “MyAquaTrax” on the App Store (coming soon for Android).

“We’ve been working really hard to create an easy-to-use and comprehensive tool for American Canyon water customers to access everything they need to know about their water use – from tracking to billing and everything in between,” said City of American Canyon Water Systems Manager, Dominic Patrick. “My Water Portal has always been a great resource to help residents catch leaks and save money on water, but with these upgrades, it’s exciting that the tool will be more accessible and add new value.”

The new My Water Portal is designed with five interactive tabs: Account Details, Track Usage, Compare Water Use, View and Pay Bill, and Notification. In addition, the portal features a main dashboard that pulls key information and goals from the tabs into widgets that provide a holistic view of a user’s water usage and personal reduction goals.

In the “Track Usage” tab, users can set a personal water usage target and receive notifications when they exceed their goal amount. This feature is particularly useful for identifying leaks and staying on track with state guidelines for water allocation per person in a user’s household.

Users can also leverage the “Compare Water Use” tab to track water usage against all American Canyon residents. The Dashboard highlights key information from the other tabs and also offers quick links to water and utility contacts, water conservation resources, recycled water information, and more. It also features a water allocation calculator that can help users determine the appropriate water use quantities for their household size according to state research and guidelines.

The “My Average Daily Use” widget in the dashboard works with this calculator to track usage against the state recommendation. Users can also track conservation progress throughout the platform by collecting “water coins,” which are rewards for using the My Water Portal to check on their water use, research water conservation tips, and create new water-saving habits. New and existing users will automatically win 100 coins for completing account registration in the upgraded portal. The coins will add up to earn users raffle tickets for prizes ranging from credits on a monthly bill to local business gift cards.

“A state-directed 20% water use reduction is not easy for any community to grapple with, especially when our residents are already working hard to reduce water consumption,” said Mayor Leon Garcia. “We see their effort and want to reward our community for continuing to do their part. Not only does the enhancement of My Water Portal make it easier to conserve, it provides a new platform to recognize residents for meeting their water consumption goals.”

All American Canyon water customers can find more information, access and sign up, and view a full user guide for My Water Portal at CityOfAmericanCanyon.org/SaveWater or via the MyAquaTrax app.
