Chief's Message
|
Happy August! Tonight, we join forces with American Canyon Police Department, the City of American Canyon and the residents of American Canyon to celebrate National Night Out. A National event to recognize and highlight the true sense of community that American Canyon excels at on a daily basis. As we wrap up summer and prepare for school to start, don’t forget about the last ‘Meet Me In The Street’ event hosted by the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, August 10th between 5 pm and 8 pm on American Canyon Road between James Road and Elliot Drive. Last month, our Engine crews were successful in teaching over 100 community members ‘Hands Only CPR’. We would love to meet you and teach you too.
I have had the honor of being the Fire Chief of American Canyon for the last month, and we, as a District staff, have hit the ground running. We are in the middle of a recruitment for new firefighters, continual training, planning our annual 9/11 ceremony, and much, much more.
While we had a sprinkle or two, please remember there are still fire hazards out there. We encourage you to clear and tall brush, weeds or debris from around your home and property to make your home fire safe. Now is a great time to get your chimney inspected and cleaned for use in the winter months.

July requires a refresher in Boat training skills. This includes practicing for swift water rescue. While AmCan doesn't have a large body of water, we train to rescue just the same.

This is a great chance to meet and great your neighbors, interact with your Public Safety personnel and just get outside!
Business Inspections
|
|
The goal of American Canyon Fire Protection District’s Inspection Program is to minimize risk of life and property loss from fire. We do this by eliminating hazardous conditions in businesses.
National statistics show that 70% of businesses that suffer a major fire incident never reopen their doors, while 25% of businesses that do reopen their doors fail within one year. Big fires always start small. If fires in structures are not contained quickly, they spread through the building structure and cannot be extinguished. These uncontrolled fires can spread to surrounding buildings.
For these reasons, it is vital for businesses and multi-unit residential owners to be educated about proper fire prevention practices.
