Hello,

Congratulations to the Class of 2022! What a journey you have been on the past few years. You have persevered through some highly challenging circumstances. We are all very proud of you and wish you well in the next phase of your lives.

Between graduation parties, Father's Day, and fabulous community events, it's a great weekend to be in American Canyon! On Saturday, the LGBTQ Connection will host the first American Canyon Pride Event, from 11 AM - 4 PM, at Community Park II (20 Benton Way). In honor of Pride Month, this event will include performances, vendors, and festivities celebrating and supporting the local community-based American Canyon Pride. Celebrating Pride Month influences awareness and provides support and advocacy for the American Canyon LGBTQ community. It also offers an opportunity to take action and engage in dialogue to strengthen alliances, build acceptance, and advance equal rights.

On Sunday, June 19th, from 1–6 PM at Main Street Park (6040 Eucalyptus Drive), everyone is invited to enjoy a day filled with culture, history, and celebration with live speakers, entertainment, food trucks, vendors, and more. This event, a partnership with the American Canyon Arts Foundation and Brenda Knight Events, provides an opportunity to honor the principles of the Declaration of Independence and celebrate the achievements and contributions African Americans have made and continue to make in the City of American Canyon and across our Nation. Juneteenth, or Juneteenth Independence Day, has a special meaning to African Americans, which combines the words of June and Nineteenth, commemorating the traditional observance of the end of slavery in the United States and is observed annually on June 19th.

We are also excited to announce the City of American Canyon's 4th of July Celebration is set for Monday, July 4th, beginning at 3 PM. The festivities will kick off with a parade on Elliott Drive from American Canyon Road to Benton Way. If you are interested in participating in the parade - sign up here. Community Park II (20 Benton Way) will be full of food trucks, live music, and free fun activities following the parade. The fireworks show will begin around dusk, and a silent disco party will start when the fireworks end and last until 10:30 PM. Our team is seeking sponsors to support the event's activities. Congratulations ACHS Citizen's Academy Graduates!

Congratulations to the ACHS students who took part in our Citizen’s Academy! These students received their certificates and pins for completing the program. We partner with Mrs. Beth Goff at ACHS on the youth version of our Citizen’s Academy to help develop future leaders and build a better community by creating well-informed and engaged residents. These students have taken one step closer to becoming future leaders of American Canyon!

The City of American Canyon is launching the public outreach phase of our Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) development process! 💥🚗We’re working to combat the Federal Highway Administration statistic that over 40% of vehicle fatalities across the U.S. occur on local roads.

💡📊LRSPs provide targeted solutions in addressing the roadway safety needs within our community – that means analyzing the City’s collision trends, developing countermeasures that can most effectively address the safety issues, and working with the community to ensure that everyone has a voice in their local public safety.

Interstate 80 Overnight Highway Closure
Between I-780 and State Route 37 in Vallejo

Caltrans has scheduled a full overnight closure of westbound Interstate 80 in Vallejo on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 11:00 PM until 4:00 AM on Monday, June 20, 2022, and a full overnight closure of eastbound Interstate 80 in Vallejo on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 11:59 PM until 5:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, crews will be working on the vertical clearance on Redwood Street overcrossing. Napa Valley Unified School District Seeks Volunteers for Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee

Napa Valley Unified is looking for community-minded residents on the NVUSD/Napa Valley and American Canyon boundaries who are interested in serving on a public committee to provide oversight for the school district’s General Obligation Bond (Measure H). The independent Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) is a group of dedicated volunteers who actively review and report on the proper expenditure of taxpayer money for school construction. Look at the NVUSD website for guidelines and fill out the application here.

Wetlands Ecology Center

The American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation wants to hear from you! This joint project with the City of American Canyon will repurpose the City's Corporation Yard into a community-facing "Ecology Center" for environmental education, nature art, and science programs for Napa County and beyond.
