2 Arrested Following a Report of Shots Fired

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., May 20, 2022, 10 AM – On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at approximately 9:50 PM, the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD) was dispatched to a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Rio Delmar and Carolyn Drive. Witnesses saw a dark brown Nissan sedan leaving the area at a high rate of speed. ACPD officers located the Nissan in the 300 block of Rio Del Mar and conducted a high-risk stop on the vehicle and its occupants.

Alejandro Marquez (driver) and Tito Rivera (passenger), both 18 years old and from Napa, were detained. Officers located a loaded .9mm Glock style semi-automatic handgun on Rivera’s person during a search. A vehicle search revealed another loaded .9mm Glock style semi-automatic handgun on the driver-side floorboard.

During the investigation, officers learned both Marquez and Rivera had outstanding Napa County felony arrest warrants with no bail issued, and both are on active probation in Napa County. Marquez and Rivera have also documented gang members with local law enforcement.

Marquez and Rivera were arrested on their outstanding warrants, violation of probation, felony firearm-related charges, and criminal street gang enhancements, and both are currently in custody with no bail.

Empty shell casings were located at the scene, and fortunately, nobody was injured by the gunshots. ACPD and Napa County Sheriff detectives are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
