Hello,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and staying healthy in 2022. Your American Canyon Officers have been diligent in arresting catalytic converter thieves and car burglars over the last month, during nighttime and in broad daylight. The community's eyes and ears will definitely assist ACPD in apprehending more thieves. A common practice for the catalytic converter thieves has been to double park next to the vehicle they attempt to steal from and have someone remain in the driver seat for a quick getaway. If you observe this type of behavior, please attempt to get a license plate and vehicle description (make, model, and color) and call 911 or dispatch at (707) 253-4451. Please do not attempt to detain or delay the suspects before ACPD's arrival. Being a good witness can assist ACPD even if the suspects leave before we arrive.
We are at the beginning of tax season. Employers will be issuing out W-2's, if possible, have your employer send the W-2 electronically, along with your tax refund wired directly to your bank account. Over the next few months, we typically see increased mailbox thefts due to people's personal information and checks being sent through the mail. If you see any suspicious vehicles or subjects loitering around or tampering with mailboxes, please do the same as previously mentioned above.
Recently in Napa County, scammers posing as local Law Enforcement Officers have increased. The scammers will often contact residents, claiming they work for local agencies, in an attempt to obtain your money or credit card information. We will never threaten to put you in jail if you fail to pay us money over the phone. Avoid giving them any money, credit card information, or banking information.
This month I will be officially sworn in as your ACPD Chief of Police. It has been an honor to serve you as the Interim Chief over the last six months. I look forward to continuing to serve the wonderful City of American Canyon, working together with the community and business owners.
ACPD again wishes for everyone to have a safe and healthy 2022!
Respectfully,
Rick Greenberg Chief of Police
