Two Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit for Carjacking out of San Francisco
AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., January 19, 2022, 9 AM – On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at approximately 2:40 PM, an American Canyon Officer spotted a black 2015 Ford SUV traveling southbound highway 29 near Napa Junction Road. After running the license plate with dispatch, the officer learned San Francisco Police wanted the vehicle for a carjacking and firearm charges that occurred in their jurisdiction on January 3, 2022.
The officer could see two subjects in the vehicle, in the driver and front passenger seat, wearing black ski masks. The SUV failed to yield after attempting to initiate a traffic stop, and officers continued after it. The SUV continued southbound Highway 29 and drove onto several side streets on the west side of the highway. The SUV eventually ended on northbound Elliott Drive, near Crawford Way and Larkspur Street. Due to the vehicle continuing towards the American Canyon Middle School and the safety of children being present, an ACPD officer conducted a PIT maneuver disabling the vehicle, causing it to crash into a mailbox on Elliott Drive.
Both male occupants of the SUV fled on foot, one westbound on Larkspur Street and the other westbound Crawford Way, jumping fences into residential backyards. California Highway Patrol air support was requested, and they assisted in locating both subjects hiding in backyards. The male suspects, 15 and 16 years old out of Vallejo, CA, were arrested and booked into Napa County Juvenile Hall for felony evading, felony vehicle theft, and misdemeanor resisting arrest. The investigation was turned over to SFPD Detectives.
