City of American Canyon Receives the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)
American Canyon, Calif., November 12, 2021, The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) on Friday, November 12, granted the City of American Canyon the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which recognizes the City for the quality of its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021. The award is a significant achievement and reflects City staff’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
“I am so grateful to be a part of a City team that prioritizes excellence across our responsibilities to the community, and I am particularly proud of the finance department for their continued commitment to produce quality work product in our budget presentation,” said City Manager Jason Holley. “The City extends our appreciation both to our finance staff and to the GFOA for recognizing the hard work of our team.”
The City of American Canyon’s annual budget satisfies nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including its ability to serve as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. The City’s annual budget exceeds proficiency standards of these four guidelines, and it meets the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
