October 18, 2021
Hello,
Can you believe its October already? October means it’s time for trick or treating and dressing up in fun and scary costumes for Halloween. A few safety tips from the American Canyon Police Department:
- Parents please make sure the kids have flashlights during hours of darkness.
- Neon lighted necklaces and bracelets are also a fun way to stay visible at night.
- Please be sure to use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing streets.
- Motorists please drive extra cautiously and abide by the traffic laws.
- Bicyclists please wear helmets and abided by rules of the road.
- Do not let kids eat unwrapped treats and any candy that looks suspicious.
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The American Canyon Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff’s Department are collaborating in supporting the event by our Pink Patch Project. During the month of October, Officers and Deputies are wearing pink police patches on their uniforms. We have patches for sale to the public for $10.00. All proceeds from the sale of the patches will be donated to cancer research. So please stop by the American Canyon Police Department during the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm to purchase your patches.
On October 23, 2021, we will once again be participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This is where you can properly dispose of any unused medications and sharps in a safe manner. The drop off location will be at the American Canyon Police Department. Please stay tuned for the time of the event as a flyer will be distributed. Remember you do not have to wait until October to discard of medications and sharps, at any time during regular business hours a drop off bin is located in the downstairs lobby of the Napa County Sheriff Department.
I wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!!!
Respectfully,
Rick Greenberg Chief of Police
