American Canyon Launches Two Online Tools to Help Residents Provide Input to the City

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., September 8, 2021 – The City of American Canyon has rolled out two new online resources to help the community make their voice heard at the City Council and other public meetings. The new tools, eComment and Register to Speak, are live as of Tuesday, September 7. Residents are encouraged to sign up and utilize the tools through a test meeting listed on the page. The eComment and Register to Speak tools will be fully implemented as of the September 21, 2021 City Council meeting. 

"Feedback from our residents is essential to the success of our community," said American Canyon Mayor Leon Garcia. "While residents have always been able to submit written and verbal public comments, we chose to implement eComment and Register to Speak to make the process easier. We want to hear from our residents and look forward to receiving their comments through our new tools."

The eComment tool allows residents to easily submit written comments on any public meeting agenda item. To submit an eComment, residents can go to CityOfAmericanCanyon.Org/Comment and click/tap "eComment" next to the meeting for which they have a comment. Residents will be taken to a new webpage, where they will see the selected agenda and a button that says "Comment" next to each agenda item. By selecting Comment, residents can provide a written comment directly on the selected item. If a resident has not logged in or created an account, they'll be prompted to do so before submitting their written comment. 

The Register to Speak tool allows residents to easily sign up to speak on an agenda item during a public meeting. To Register to Speak, residents can go to CityOfAmericanCanyon.Org/Comment and click/tap "eComment" next to the meeting during which they want to speak. On the next page, next to each agenda item, residents will see a button labeled "Sign in to Speak" or "Register to Speak." If the button says Sign in to Speak, residents must sign in or create an account. Once logged in, the button will say Register to Speak, which will prompt residents to sign up to speak on their selected item. 

Residents may submit eComments until the meeting ends. However, only comments received up to 3 pm on the meeting day will be distributed to the meeting body and management staff before the meeting. Comments received after the 3 pm cut-off time will be distributed to the meeting body and management staff the next business day.
