American Canyon Welcomes New City Clerk Taresa Geilfuss 

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., July, 12, 2021 – On Monday, July 12, 2021, the City of American Canyon welcomed Taresa Geilfuss as the City's new City Clerk. Geilfuss will begin her new position starting July 12, 2021, and brings with her seasoned experience in many of the departments in the City of American Canyon organization. She successfully competed in an external recruitment that had more than 45 applicants. 

"Teresa’s efforts during the pandemic really stood out and we are excited she will continue to be a key contributor to the City’s success in this new role," said American Canyon City Manager Jason Holley. 

Geilfuss started her career with the City of American Canyon in 2006 as an Administrative Assistant in the Planning/Building Department. In this position, she provided clerk services to the City’s Planning Commission. Since October 2017, Geilfuss has been working as a Permit Technician for the Community Development Department after being promoted. Throughout her time with these departments she has stepped into the position of City Clerk when vacancies arose, the latest occurrence taking place since January 2021. 

Geilfuss is a graduate of Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. She holds many certifications including a Permit Technician certificate from the International Code Council, a Technical Track for Clerks Certification from UC Riverside, and has completed the City’s Supervisor Academy. She also is currently obtaining a certified Municipal Clerk Certificate and is a Notary Public.
