City of American Canyon City Council Declares
Drought Emergency Stage 1, Calling for Voluntary Conservation

American Canyon, CA – On June 1, 2021, at their regularly scheduled meeting, the American Canyon City Council declared a Drought Emergency Stage 1, calling for voluntary conservation of all water customers. All water customers of the City of American Canyon are requested to implement the following best practices:

  1. Visit CityofAmericanCanyon.org/MyWater to sign up for the customer portal to monitor your account for unusual activity.
  2. Participate in the City of American Canyon’s Cash for Grass and Toilet Rebate Programs at CityofAmericanCanyon.org/savewater.
  3. Limit showers to 5 minutes or less, turn off the faucet when brushing teeth, and flush toilets only when necessary each day.
  4. Inspect outdoor irrigation systems, repair leaks, adjust spray heads to maximize coverage, avoid over-spray/run-off, irrigate two days per week, no more than two minutes per zone, between 6 pm - 6 am, and turn off within 24 hours of rainfall.
  5. Wash automobiles, trucks, trailers, boats, airplanes, and other types of mobile equipment during the evening and early morning hours to reduce evaporation losses. Such washing shall be done with a hand-held bucket or hand-held hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle used for quick rinses.
  6. Reduce monthly demand by ten percent when compared to the same period in the established base year.

Water customers are encouraged to visit CityofAmericanCanyon.org/SaveWater for the latest updates, tips on saving water, and seeing how the City is doing overall in meeting water conservation goals.
