Pre-Storm Warnings
What to look for and how to prepare
Our skies are sunny and clear today, but the rest of the week we are expecting quite a bit of rain and windy weather conditions. From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, weather forecasts are calling for gusty south winds and prolonged periods of moderate to heavy rain.
In American Canyon, we may experience minimal flooding (pooling) in low lying areas such as Wetlands Edge Road, and near the creeks in town. We encourage our residents to proactively prepare for flooding and power outages. A self-serve sandbag station is available at City Hall (4381 Broadway). All you need to bring are gloves and a shovel! If your property has experienced water runoff into your home or driveway you are encouraged to stop by and get what you need.
PG&E is advising that customers in Napa County may experience sustained outage activity Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday related to this storm. Customers can check on outages and sign up for alerts via text, email or phone call for power restoration updates at: https://m.pge.com/#outages.
Please use this opportunity to plan with tips from https://www.ready.gov/kit and be prepared. If you are unsure how to be prepared check out https://www.ready.gov/power-outages to get helpful tips.
Don't forget to do your part at home by clearing leaves from your home gutters. Our street crews are out checking storm drain inlets for clogs before the storm begins. Please help them and be sure to not blow, rake, or pile your garden's leaves into the storm drain gutters at the curbside.
