October 16, 2020
Hello!
I hope you’ll check out our Spooktacular October Events page! You’ll find no-carve pumpkin decorating tips, do-it-yourself costumes, reusable craft ideas, and ideas for painting pumpkin rocks. Our first Virtual Halloween Costume Contest (details below) is off to a great start. Check out our Facebook page to see the entries so far. We are hosting a Trick or Treat Drive-Thru on Friday, October 30th, from 6-8 PM; details about that are also included below.
Traditional activities like door to door trick-or-treating and indoor parties or haunted houses are considered extremely high risk and are strongly discouraged by health officials. We’ve received many questions about Halloween and what is and isn’t allowed. While making your plans, please be smart, be safe, and be kind to one another. The City of American Canyon recommends following the guidance provided by public health professionals:

Additional Guidance:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for the Holiday Season
Guidance for Safer Halloween and Día de los Muertos Celebrations during COVID-19 (CDPH)
As we continue to find the balance of staying safe from COVID-19 transmission and enjoying our “normal” activities, finding creative new ways to celebrate can be fun. Our Parks & Recreation team is working on the upcoming holiday season to bring in some new traditions for all of us.
In other COVID-19 related updates, Napa County remains in the Red Tier but is showing data metrics that indicate possible movement to the less restrictive Orange Tier. Also, the California Department of Public Health has updated their guidance for all persons planning to host or participate in private gatherings to allow for expansions of your initial “household bubble.” These are significant developments, but we need to remain vigilant in following the recommendations to keep everyone safe and healthy. One way to do that is to get your flu shot; Napa County Public Health is offering free drive-thru flu shot clinics throughout the month.
Take care,
Jason Holley City Manager
