Hello,
WEAR A MASK! It's not rocket surgery or politics – and everyone is doing it. It's a simple, unselfish practice that shows you care enough about other people to inconvenience yourself. Napa County learned of its 5th COVID-19 death today - we pray for those who are now hospitalized and for the families who have lost loved ones.
The COVID-19 situation is confusing and changes daily. Our lives are turned upside, and California has taken a step backward. The Napa County COVID-19 Dashboard has the latest information – including the most recent County Public Health Order.
Currently, the sectors listed below are closed or prohibited (except for operations and activities that can take place outdoors or by curbside pick-up). Importantly, the State of California will decide when these sectors can open again (not Napa County or the City of American Canyon):
• All brewpubs, breweries, bars and pubs, both indoor and outdoor services, that do not serve sit-down meals • Indoor dining at restaurants • Indoor wineries and tasting rooms • Indoor family entertainment centers • Indoor movie theaters • Indoor zoos and museums • Indoor card-rooms • Fitness Centers • Worship Services • Protests • Offices for non-essential business sectors • Personal care services including nail salons, waxing, massage therapy, day spas, and tattoo parlors • Hair salons and barber shops • Indoor malls
Schools will remain closed until further notice – although distance learning is schedule to begin next month. Lastly, the County Public Health Order states:
"12. Gatherings. All public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited, except as otherwise modified by the County Public Health Officer through guidance documents and/or frequently asked questions."
"15. Face Coverings: all individuals located in the County are required to adhere to the State of California's face coverings requirement, as set forth by the State Public Health Officer." Simply put, if you are someplace where shirts and shoes are required, then so are masks.
Adherence to the County Public Health Order is the only way to reduce the further spread of COVID-19. American Canyon is doing a good job – but consistency is key. Napa County – with the support of American Canyon - will begin enforcing the County Public Health Order through administrative citations and fines (if necessary.) If you have a violation to report, please email COVID19Compliance@countyofnapa.org.
Our priority is the well-being and safety of our community. We prefer to view the enforcement tools within the Countywide Urgency Enforcement Ordinance as a last resort and use the reports of violations as opportunities to help improve the understanding of these ever-changing conditions. We are also partnering with the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce to support our local businesses to meet the health order's requirements.
Remember, we are all in this together. Please do the right thing and take care of one another. We can make all the difference by taking a few simple steps:
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Wear a face-covering when you're out in public spaces.
- Stay within your household bubble.
Sincerely,
Jason Holley City Manager

Proposed SR 37 Traffic Congestion Relief Project Caltrans and partners invite you to attend a virtual scoping open house to learn more about the Proposed SR 37 Traffic Congestion Relief Project. The project is focused on traffic congestion relief by improving traffic flow during peak travel times and increasing vehicle occupancy within the travel corridor. Three project alternatives are under consideration, including converting existing shoulders to part-time or full-time travel lanes, and/or installing a movable median barrier to provide a three-lane facility within the project limits. The additional lane(s) is intended to be a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane to provide an incentive to shift to multi-occupant vehicles.
Virtual Scoping Open House July 22, 2020 at 6:00-7:30 PM (click link above for log-in details)
Attendees will be able to ask questions about the material presented during the meeting; however, all scoping comments must be submitted in writing by email or mail. Attendance at the virtual open house is not required to submit comments. Click here for more information and instructions on how to submit comments.
