Hello,
Governor Newsom's Pandemic Roadmap for Reopening California resulted in a new Shelter at Home Order last week. We have now opened up our tennis courts, pickleball court, skate park, and bocce court. I want to thank American Canyon residents for complying with the new requirements.
Staff remains on-duty delivering law enforcement, firefighting, utility, maintenance, and other essential services. The City is weathering this storm, but we want to know how you are doing. Public engagement is a hallmark of the American Canyon City Council, but during this emergency, traditional in-person communication is disrupted. We still need your input. We have prepared a community survey to allow you to share how this pandemic is affecting you. Are you or your family suffering financial losses? Do you have unmet childcare needs? Do you still feel safe in American Canyon, and if not, how can we help you? These are important questions, so please help us by completing the survey.
Because of the pandemic, next year's revenue will be roughly 15% less, and we must adjust the City's fiscal plan accordingly. Difficult decisions lie ahead, and next Tuesday, May 19th, the City Council will hear an update regarding next year's budget. We encourage all residents to watch and learn more.
We are not out of the woods yet, but we are on the right track, leading by example. As we begin this re-opening phase, please remember to be safe and responsible because we're all in this together. We are here if you need us; please call, email, or visit our Virtual City Hall.
Thank you and take care.
Jason Holley City Manager
