Hello,
I want to start by thanking American Canyon residents for continuing to comply with Napa County’s Shelter at Home Order. You are doing a great job - keep up the excellent work!
This week Governor Newsom announced a new roadmap for re-opening California. This plan is welcome news for all of us - it includes six indicators that will define four stages for re-opening. Napa County is also planning for re-opening locally. Next Tuesday, May 5th, the Napa County Board of Supervisors will discuss this topic more.
Also, parents should contact the Napa Valley Unified School District for the latest information about their plans for re-opening American Canyon schools.
Our staff remains on-duty delivering law enforcement, firefighting, maintenance and utilities, and other essential support services. The City is weathering this storm, but difficult decisions lie ahead. Because of the pandemic, we expect revenue next year to be roughly 15% less, so we must adjust the City’s fiscal plan accordingly. Next Tuesday, May 5th, the City Council will hear an update regarding next year’s budget, and we encourage all residents to watch and learn more (see below for options).
You know, the individual choices we make collectively affect our family and our community. We are not out of the woods yet, but we are on the right track and leading by example. As we begin to consider this re-opening phase, please remember to be safe and responsible because we’re all in this together. We are here if you need us; please call, email, or visit our website.
Thank you and take care.
Jason Holley City Manager
