Hello!
We are busy these days at City Hall, and I wanted to share some important information.
Last year, the Napa Valley Unified School District decided to cancel construction of a second middle school because of financial concerns. Next Monday (Feb. 3) at 6pm, District staff will provide information about their new ideas for improvements to schools in American Canyon using Measure H funds. The meeting will start at 6pm at American Canyon Middle School. If you are interested learning more about the future improvements to public schools in American Canyon, I would encourage you to attend.
At next Tuesday’s Council meeting, the Community Leaders Coalition of Napa Valley will provide a present information that may be of great interest to families who have immigrated to American Canyon. The presentation will include information about recent changes to “Public Charge Rule” – more information and resources are available here.
The 2020 Primary Election on March 3. In this election, voters will decide 2 races: Napa County 5th District Supervisor and Measure K. Ballots will start arriving next week. If you haven't registered to vote, you still have time - Register before February 18th!
Lastly, we need your input on the City’s efforts related to “Climate Change” - please take this quick survey!

Message from Napa County Public Health Click here for the full news release. Napa County Public Health officials are closely working with California Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Bay Area health officials to monitor the novel (new) coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. While this is considered a serious public health threat, based on current information, the risk to the general public in Napa County is considered low at this time. To date, there are no cases reported in Napa County. However, it is likely there will be more cases reported in the U.S. in the coming days and weeks.
No additional precautions are recommended at this time beyond the simple daily precautions that everyone should always take, such as:
- Washing hands with liquid soap and water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds;
- Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing; and
- Staying home if you are sick.
Since flu activity will continue to remain high during this flu season, and symptoms of coronavirus are similar to the flu, Napa County Public Health also recommends getting a flu shot to protect yourself and others from the flu. For the latest updates, go to the CDC 2019 Novel Coronavirus website.
