Hello,
Pardon our dust! This week, we re-paved American Canyon Road East – your Measure T and SB1 tax dollars were put to good work! There is never a convenient time or way to get these projects completed; however, we did our best to complete this work as quickly as possible. Ghillotti Construction has a few tasks to complete and you can get the latest updates on our website. The next project coming is the resurfacing of the basketball and tennis courts at Elliott and Northampton Parks.
I want to congratulate the latest class of graduates from our Citizen’s Academy for their dedication to learning more about the City over the last eight weeks. We celebrated their graduation this week and welcomed them in to the 100+ strong alumni of our Citizen's Academy. I'll keep you posted on the next opportunity for you to join them.
Did you know the Napa Valley Register publishes a quarterly magazine, Inside Napa Valley? In upcoming issues, they will highlight Napa County's local neighborhood stories. For their next edition, they are looking for residents who have lived in American Canyon for more than 40 years. If you have lived in the same neighborhood in American Canyon for 40 years or more and are interested in sharing your experiences, the features of your neighborhood, and what makes American Canyon special, please contact Rachel at rzha@juno.com or (707) 554-6712.
A few fun events are going on in town this weekend. Pick up your pumpkins while supporting a great program in our community at the 4-H Pumpkin Sale tomorrow and Sunday between 3-6 PM at the 4-H Farm located at 2 Eucalyptus Drive. You won't want to miss out on the ACCPF's Fall Family Spooky Hike this Sunday, 10/27, from 6 - 8 PM at Wetlands Edge Trail. They’ve partnered with Napa RCD and the Vallejo/American Canyon Girl Scout Service Troop to offer this fun community event. Be sure to check out the Halloween Safety Tips below from our Police Chief.
And finally, don’t miss out on the opportunity to apply for one of the General Plan Update Advisory Committees. We are accepting applications until 5 PM on Thursday, October 31st. Details are below.

General Plan Update Committees The General Plan Update is underway, and we need your help! There are many ways to provide input, including two citizen committees: The Education Element Advisory Committee will provide recommendations for educational facilities and programs that align with our community's vision for promoting life-long learning. The Circulation Element Advisory Committee will provide recommendations for new roadways and transportation programs, including the alignment of the "West Side Connector." To find out more and apply, visit our website. Applications will be accepted until 5 PM on Thursday, October 31st.
Halloween Safety Tips Please be safe while “Trick or Treating," remember to SCARE SAFE:
S- Stay in groups C- Costumes should be well fitting and flame resistance (mask that obscure visibility are not “well fitting”) A –Always test makeup (for allergic reaction or skin irritation) R- Remember to look both ways E- Examine all treats
S- Stay on sidewalks when possible A – Avoid dark houses F- Flashlights and glow sticks E- Enjoy
When examining the “treats”, check the packaging for any tampering, avoid home-cooked treats, and read the labeling to ensure the treat is safe for children. There are many products out in the market today intends for adult use, such as candies or products containing THC (the active ingredient in cannabis), whose packaging looks similar to traditional candy products. While it may be unlikely that someone would give away these types of products as Halloween “treats”, parents should read the labels to keep everyone safe. Remember, when in doubt. Throw it out.
Drivers, always use caution, but as the sun sets on Halloween night, please exercise extreme caution, as excited children wearing costumes can dart out from between cars, in the dark. We will be out and about, also handing out some candy, and helping everyone enjoy a safe Halloween.
