Hello,
The General Plan Update is underway, and we need your help! There are many ways to provide input, including two new citizen committees: The Education Element Advisory Committee will provide recommendations for educational facilities and programs that align with our community's vision for promoting life-long learning. The Circulation Element Advisory Committee will provide recommendations for new roadways and transportation programs, including the alignment of the "West Side Connector."
Each committee will consist of 18 to 20 community members who will be appointed by the City Council on December 3rd. The committees will each meet for approximately six sessions between January and December 2020. Meetings will likely be held in the evenings for about two hours.
I would like to personally invite you to apply to participate in one of the committees. If you are interested, please apply by visiting our City Clerk’s Office or the General Plan page on our website. For more details, call our City Clerk at (707) 647-5337.
Parent, it’s time to put your sneakers on! Next Wednesday, October 2nd, is "Walk and Roll to School Day." This event brings on a stronger sense of community among our students, families, friends, and neighbors. You can feel the school spirit in the air! Walking and bicycling to school gives our kids time for physical activity while promoting a sense of responsibility and independence. Not to mention, it is so much better on our stress levels to get out and use our legs rather than sit in a car waiting your turn in the drop-off lane. Walk and Roll to School Day is an event where our entire community benefits. I hope that you will join our American Canyon families in walking and biking to school. Don't forget those helmets!
