If the future of American Canyon school facilities and programs are important to you, then don't miss Thursday's School Board meeting (7 PM at the American Canyon High School).
The School District has already made $7 million in budget cuts this school year (2019/20) and is projecting the need to make another $7.2 million in budget cuts over the next two years ($1.6M in 2020/21 and $5.6M in 2021/22). Thursday night, District staff will present information to the Board and the American Canyon community regarding the need for these additional budget cuts. The presentation will include a focus on historical enrollment data and future demographic projections specific to American Canyon. To be clear, these budget projections already assume no second middle school in American Canyon (otherwise the budget deficit would be higher).
If you live in American Canyon, decisions about schools affect you - even if you do not have children. Please know while City leaders will be at this meeting to listen and support members of our community, it is the Board (not the City Council) who makes decisions about schools. We look forward to seeing you there.
