Looking for a great book that is both dystopian and contemplative? Check out Klara and the Sun (2021) by Ishiguru Kazuo, Nobel prize winning author of acclaimed novels that include Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go. The title character is an Artificial Friend, created to be a companion to a human child, and the story is told from Klara's perspective. Ishiguro explores broad themes of love, loneliness, human nature, and the ethics of technology in prose that is gentle and profound.
