Hello District 4!
As we settle into the heart of summer (despite the weather's best efforts to keep us guessing), I hope you are finding time to enjoy all that the season has to offer. Whether you're spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, attending local events, or simply enjoying the warm evenings at home, this season offers wonderful opportunities to relax and reconnect. In this month's newsletter, you'll find upcoming events, community updates, helpful resources and more - so be sure to read on!
One upcoming event is my 23rd annual Healthy Living Festival on September 24! As my flagship event for older adults (ages 55+), the festival brings together valuable health, wellness, and community resources in a fun and engaging setting at the Oakland Zoo. Be sure to check out the flyer in this newsletter for additional details. Registration is required and parking is limited, so be sure to register asap.

Ultra-Light Rail Freight and Transit system (ULRF&T) Initiative
 I was proud to secure unanimous support from my colleagues on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for a resolution backing the continued development of an innovative Ultra-Light Rail Freight and Transit (ULRF&T) system, including CyberTran and its partners' vision for a next-generation transportation network.
This forward-looking initiative has the potential to transform how goods and people move throughout our region by reducing traffic congestion on the I-580 corridor, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting a zero-carbon freight and transit future.
Working alongside UC Berkeley PATH, EARTHGRID, MANEX, and other partners, this effort also explores opportunities to bring advanced manufacturing jobs to Alameda County and develop an Inland Port that strengthens our regional supply chain and economy.
While this resolution does not commit County funding, it demonstrates Alameda County's commitment to exploring innovative transportation solutions that improve mobility, protect our environment, and create high-quality jobs for our residents.
Together, we're investing in bold ideas that can help build a cleaner, more connected, and more prosperous future for Alameda County.

Fairview Municipal Advisory Council Applications Now Being Accepted
The Fairview Municipal Advisory Council advises the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning services that are or may be provided to the area as defined within the boundaries established by the Fairview Specific Plan, including advice on matters of public safety, welfare, public works, and planning. The Council meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. Each Council member shall be a resident of the Fairview area or have owned a business in the Area for a period of at least five years prior to their appointment. Appointees will receive a $50 stipend per meeting. Please go to https://www.acgov.org/bnc to complete an online application. Eden Area Municipal Advisory Council Applications Now Being Accepted
The Eden Area Municipal Advisory Council consists of 7 members with 4 members recommended by Supervisor Miley (District 4) and 3 members recommended by Supervisor Tam (District 3). The council advises the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres and San Lorenzo, as defined within the boundaries established in the Eden Area General Plan. Meetings occur once a month in the evening on the second Tuesday of each month. Appointees must live in the area served by the Eden Area MAC or have operated/owned a business there for at least 5 consecutive years. Appointees will receive a $50 stipend per meeting.

The mission of the Vector Control Service District is to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases, injury, and discomfort to the residents of the county by controlling insects, rodents, and other vectors and eliminating causal environmental conditions through education and integrated pest management practices. The department investigates complaints, assesses environmental conditions, provides vector identifications, surveys and assists with control measures, and conducts insect control.
