Dear District 1,
We're just a few days away from the Fourth of July as our nation marks its 250th anniversary, a time to celebrate our shared history, reflect on the values that unite us, and enjoy time with family, friends, and neighbors.
As you make plans for the holiday, I hope you'll also take a moment to appreciate the many people who help keep our communities safe and thriving, including our first responders, public works crews, healthcare professionals, and countless others.
In this month's newsletter, you'll find updates on community events, updates, and opportunities to stay engaged. Thank you for being an active part of our District 1 community, and I wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and happy Fourth of July!
As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.

Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Livermore Wine Country Luncheon where I joined constituents and business leaders from across the Tri-Valley to share an update on the State of the County.
Our conversation covered a range of important topics, including the County budget, efforts to strengthen the safety net for underserved residents, and the role of a County Supervisor in delivering essential services and representing our communities. I was especially proud to recognize my incredible team, whose dedication and professionalism make it possible to serve Alameda County residents each and every day.
Thank you to the Livermore Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a wonderful event, and to Garré Vineyard & Winery for graciously hosting us. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with our community and look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the county.
Next stop: Fremont! I'm excited to join the Fremont Chamber of Commerce's Fremont Business Leaders event later this month.
Alameda County is proud to announce that our Rooms of Hope program has received a 2026 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). This national recognition celebrates innovative, effective county programs that strengthen communities and improve residents' lives.
Rooms of Hope was recognized for its collaborative approach to providing safe, stable, and supportive housing solutions for individuals and families in need. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, the Tri-Valley Seek & Save team, and everyone who has contributed to the program's success. We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to expanding innovative solutions that help Alameda County residents thrive.
Zeno Power, a U.S. developer of advanced “nuclear batteries” (radioisotope power systems), is establishing a manufacturing facility at the historic Vallecitos Nuclear Center in Sunol. This investment will bring new life to the 1,600-acre site, once home to America’s first privately owned nuclear power plant, through its partnership with NorthStar Group Services and restoration of specialized infrastructure for secure production.
Zeno’s technology provides long-lasting, reliable power for critical applications in space exploration, national defense, and remote environments. Initial deliveries are expected in 2027, with production scaling in 2028.
This project represents an exciting investment in Alameda County’s innovation economy, strengthening U.S. energy and security capabilities while helping preserve and grow highly specialized technical expertise in our region.
