Hello District 4!
As we embrace another beautiful summer season, I hope you're finding time to enjoy the sunshine, spend time with loved ones, and take part in the many events and activities happening throughout our county.
Speaking of summertime events, hopefully you have had the chance to visit the Alameda County Fair! It's not too late - the Fair is open until July 12th at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. The Fair has something for everyone - entertainment, carnival rides and games, agriculture, exhibits, concerts, movies on the lawn, fun festival food, and more. Check out the article in the newsletter for more info and how to purchase tickets.
My 23rd annual Healthy Living Festival is on September 24! As my flagship event for older adults (ages 55+), the festival brings together valuable health, wellness, and community resources in a fun and engaging setting at the Oakland Zoo. Be sure to check out the flyer in this newsletter for additional details.

My colleagues and I had the honor of recognizing the members of the Alameda County Reparations Commission for their outstanding service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing justice and equity for our communities.
The Commissions' work represents years of research, public engagement, and thoughtful dialogue to address the lasting impacts of systemic racism and historical inequities in Alameda County.
During the June 30th Board of Supervisors meeting, my colleagues and I voted unanimously to both accept the Alameda County Reparations Commission's Final Report and Recommendations and to establish a Reparations Standing Committee to continue advancing, monitoring, and advising on the implementation of reparations-related policies and initiatives. I encourage everyone to follow this important discussion and stay engaged as we continue working toward a more just and equitable Alameda County.

Fairview Municipal Advisory Council Applications Now Being Accepted
The Fairview Municipal Advisory Council advises the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning services that are or may be provided to the area as defined within the boundaries established by the Fairview Specific Plan, including advice on matters of public safety, welfare, public works, and planning. The Council meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. Each Council member shall be a resident of the Fairview area or have owned a business in the Area for a period of at least five years prior to their appointment. Appointees will receive a $50 stipend per meeting. Please go to https://www.acgov.org/bnc to complete an online application. Eden Area MAC Applications Now Being Accepted for an Alameda County District 4 appointment.
The Council consists of 7 members with 4 members recommended by Supervisor Miley (District 4) and 3 members recommended by Supervisor Tam (District 3). The council advises the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres and San Lorenzo, as defined within the boundaries established in the Eden Area General Plan. Meetings occur once a month in the evening on the second Tuesday of each month. Appointees must live in the area served by the Eden Area MAC or have operated/owned a business there for at least 5 consecutive years. Appointees will receive a $50 stipend per meeting.

Scott Haggerty - In Memoriam
I was saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and former colleague, Scott Haggerty. Scott was a dedicated public servant who served Alameda County's District 1, the Bay Area, and the residents of California. During our many years serving together on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, I witnessed firsthand his unwavering commitment to improving transportation, strengthening our communities, and advocating for the residents he represented. His leadership helped shape countless transportation projects and regional initiatives that will benefit generations to come. Scott's legacy is one of service, vision, and steadfast dedication to the public good. He will be deeply missed, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and former colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. May he rest in peace.

The Alameda County Healthy Homes Department (including the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program) provides innovative, multi-disciplinary programs that offer consultations, case management, technical assistance, and services to prevent lead poisoning and promote health and safety in the home.

The Alameda County General Services Agency is committed to serving the County agencies and departments who serve the public. They provide the County with safe, clean, and energy-efficient workspaces; one of the greenest vehicle fleets in the nation; logistics services (parking, messengers, etc.); supplies and purchases; outreach to outside businesses; safety training and support; emergency logistics support; long-range capital planning; maintenance and improvements, and planning, designing, and building structures such as hospitals, libraries, and youth centers.
