Dear District 1,
It’s hard to believe January is already coming to an end! We’ve started the year by working to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
This month, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors proclaimed January 2026 as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This proclamation reaffirms our commitment to survivor-centered, prevention-driven approaches that advance dignity, safety, healing, and stability for all individuals impacted by human trafficking.
I also had the opportunity to meet with Tri-Valley community and faith leaders from across District 1 to listen, learn, and discuss how we can better support our diverse communities. Details can be found below.
This edition of our newsletter introduces a new series spotlighting outstanding community members who are making a difference in District 1! Be sure to explore the updates below to stay connected with events, resources, and opportunities throughout District 1 and Alameda County.
As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.
Sincerely,

David G. Haubert Alameda County Supervisor District 1

I was thrilled to meet last week with 64 faith and nonprofit leaders from across the Tri-Valley community to listen, learn, and discuss how we can better support our communities.
I was proud to host this quarterly meeting alongside our Homeless, Housing, and Senior Services Coordinator, Gloria Gregory, and to speak at the event alongside Pleasanton Mayor Jack Balch and Livermore Mayor John Marchand.
We heard from leaders like Erin McGrath from Cornerstone Fellowship, who shared information about their Friday morning outreach efforts to provide free meals, showers, and a variety of other resources to unhoused populations throughout the Tri-Valley.

Alameda County would like to thank the 1,300+ volunteers who participated in the biennial Point-in-Time (PIT) Count. The PIT Count is a federally mandated one-day snapshot of sheltered and unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness. The count, led by AC Health H&H and the Oakland-Berkeley-Alameda County Continuum of Care (CoC), began at 5 a.m. across the county.
Jonathan Russell, AC Health H&H Director, said, “To have more than 1,300 people come out at 5 in the morning to canvas the streets is simply amazing. It’s clear that Alameda County residents understand the value of this initiative and care deeply about supporting solutions for their unhoused neighbors. This shows the compassion, empathy, and care of our community—I couldn’t be more proud.”
Data from the PIT Count helps guide funding and policy decisions. The 2024 count showed overall homelessness fell 3%, and unsheltered residents dropped 11% since 2022. The 2026 count will inform implementation of the Home Together 2030 Plan and Measure W Home Together Fund, which support prevention, shelter, housing, and improved system access and coordination. In July 2025, the Board of Supervisors designated 80% of annual revenues from Measure W, a half-cent sales tax passed in 2020, to advance the goals of the Home Together Plan. To date, Alameda County has invested over $105M in permanent supportive housing and shelters, with more investments planned in the coming months.
