Hello, District 4!
As we step into September, there's a sense of new beginnings in the air. The long days of summer start to give way to cooler mornings, and the return of routines brings both focus and fresh opportunities. Whether you're settling into new goals, savoring the last outdoor gatherings, or preparing for the season ahead, this month offers the prefect balance of reflection and momentum.
The Healthy Living Festival is right around the corner! If you haven't registered yet, please be sure to sign up soon - registration is required. This signature annual event, held at the Oakland Zoo and designed for adults 55 and older, is a celebration you won't want to miss. I look forward to seeing you there!
Inside this newsletter edition, you'll find more updates on upcoming events and important community information. *For optimal reading, please open this newsletter in a new window.

Phone Scam Alert!
Scammers are impersonating law enforcement and U.S. District Court employees and demanding immediate payment to clear a warrant in lieu of arrest.
If you receive such a call, text, or email, do not provide the requested information. Notify the Clerk of Court's Office of the U.S. District Court in your area immediately. You can find Federal Court locations and information at https://www.uscourts.gov/federal-court-finder/search .
Neither the ACSO nor any other local, state, or federal law enforcement agency will ever contact you for payment for missed court appearances or citations in lieu of arrest or a warrant issuance.
The standard collection methods for scammers are Bitcoin, Western Union/electronic funds transfer, MoneyPak/Green Dot, and Vanilla Reload. There are many ways to fall victim to these types of scams.
Even if the caller sounds convincing because they (1) call from a local telephone number, (2) refer to you by name, or (3) have other personal information about you, IT IS A SCAM!
Play it safe and never agree to send money or meet up with someone from an unsolicited call, email, or text. Contact your local law enforcement for assistance if you believe you are the target/victim of a scam.

BART updates!
Starting August 20th, BART becomes the Bay Area’s first Tap and Ride system. Tap and Ride will provide riders the ability to pay adult fares at BART fare gates using physical contactless credit or debit cards or mobile payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. With Tap and Ride, riders will no longer need to use a Clipper card to ride BART. This will be an immense timesaver for riders who can now use their contactless bank cards to ride BART with zero registration or setup process required.
