Dear Friend,
Did you know that Alameda County has a $4 billion budget, financed primarily by state and federal funding, property taxes, and service charges? The County sets this budget in an annual process - happening right now - to help uphold health and social services in the community, ranging from housing to public safety to behavioral health and more.
Wondering how all of this connects to you? My office invites you to join us for an online Budget Forum next Thursday, June 12, from 5:30 to 7 PM to learn about the County’s proposed budget, hear our budget priorities, ask questions, and share feedback!
Given various challenges and opportunities in our community, we are counting on you to participate and share what you see as the County’s most urgent needs. This is your chance to inform our advocacy as we work with the Board of Supervisors to ensure that we are supporting the most impactful programs and services for neighbors in need.
Register HERE to receive the Zoom link for the event. Please sign up today and spread the word with your friends, family, and neighbors using the flyer blow!
In community,
Nikki Fortunato Bas 勵琪 (she/her) Supervisor Alameda County, District 5
P.S. On June 5th at 3:30pm, we will have a joint committee meeting of Alameda County Together for All (ACT for All) and Health with important discussions about federal impacts to our healthcare system, including Medicaid and Medi-Cal, mental health, reproductive health, gender-affirming care, HIV prevention and treatment, and more. You can find the agenda here, learn more at district5.acgov.org/actforall, and see meeting details at at bos.acgov.org/broadcast.
Also, save the date for our Homelessness/Measure W Town Halls in Oakland (at Beth Eden Church on Monday, June 30 at 5:30 PM) and Berkeley (date and location TBD). More info to come.
