Welcome, Captain Serrato!
It is my honor to extend a warm welcome to our new Dublin Area CHP Captain, Gerardo Serrato! Providing services for both Alameda and Contra Costa County, the Dublin Area CHP patrols 57 miles of freeway on Interstate 580, Interstate 680, and 275 miles of unincorporated (rural) roads. With a wealth of experience and dedication to public service, Captain Serrato will undoubtedly serve our community with profound passion and diligence. I am confident that his leadership will be effective and responsive, maintaining the safety of the highways and rural roads in our region.
Driving Change: A Story
When the Tri-Valley Seek & Save (TVSS) received a car donation from a single mother who had once sought support from their organization, they were inspired by her story and passion to uplift others. Her journey included support from numerous coalitions, including the Livermore Housing Authority, Shepherds Gate, and the One Nation Dream Makers. These committed groups provided stability to a mother navigating a path of adversity, ultimately instilling within her a desire to help others in need.
In 2023, my office was delighted to award a grant to this nonprofit covering costs associated with mechanical labor and service, leading to the initiation of the TVSS’s car donation program. Remarkably, 123 automobiles were repaired within the past year, and 23 were donated to families confronting financial obstacles. This was not an independent accomplishment, however, as many important individuals made valuable contributions to this program. Allen’s Automotive and Tow, Big O Tire, Mrs. B’s Auto, and TVSS donors were instrumental in repairing and registering donated cars.
Now, because of these actions, a family of seven received a fully functioning vehicle that will allow them to fulfill their everyday responsibilities. The positive outcome of this collaborative effort manifested itself through a single mother’s dedication. This story is a testament to the transformative potential of teamwork, with individual actions helping our most vulnerable residents. I am deeply proud and appreciative of our District’s unwavering efforts.
