Recipe4Health Highlighted at the White House

I am proud to share that Recipe4Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Steven Chen, recently represented Alameda County during a panel discussion at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Chen highlighted the launch of Alameda County’s award-winning Recipe4Health initiative and the importance of healthy food access, physical activity, enhanced nutrition, and food security. Recipe4Health, formerly Food as Medicine, began as an initiative under ALL IN Alameda County and is now part of the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency’s (HCSA) community health services. Supervisor Chan was a driving force behind Recipe4Health’s expansion throughout Alameda County and a champion for this innovative food and health care justice initiative.

Recipe4Health is a medically-supportive food and nutrition service provider under CalAIM’s Community Support program that prescribes patients nutrient-dense produce and connects them to local support groups.
