Alameda County, California sent this bulletin at 02/22/2012 02:18 PM PSTThe Housing Services Office of Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services is pleased to announce CLINTON COMMONS, a new affordable housing opportunity in Oakland, CA.
Developed by Resources for Community Development (RCD), this newly constructed community is centrally located several blocks from Lake Merritt and less than a block from Clinton Park. The site is near major transit routes (Hwy. 880, BART, AC Transit Lines 1, 11, 14, 62, 40). CLINTON COMMONS is located within close walking distance to shopping, entertainment venues, restaurants, cafes, and locally owned and operated small businesses.
There is no minimum income requirement for Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), Section 8, and HOPWA units. Affordable rents are income restricted in accordance with the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and other regulatory agreements. Attached is the Pre-Application for CLINTON COMMONS.

All pre-applications must be received by mail by March 19, 2012, to be included in a random lottery. All others will be stamped on the date in which they are received and placed on the waiting list following the initial lottery. The John Stewart Company will not accept application that are faxed or hand-delivered.
There are eight (8) one bedroom apartments reserved for Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) eligible households. MHSA units are designated for households or individuals that are currently homeless and have at least one individual who has a serious mental health issue that qualifies under MHSA. To be eligible for the one of the 8 MHSA apartments at CLINTON COMMONS, one must be homeless or at risk of immediate homelessness AND have a history of a serious mental health issue. Applicants who participate in a Full Service Partnership qualify for residency and are encouraged to apply for this important housing opportunity.
Attached is the application for MHSA eligibility for CLINTON COMMONS. Please note that this MHSA application has a different mailing address and should not be included with the Pre-Application materials for the John Stewart Company. Applicants must complete both applications and must meet the John Stewart Company timeline of March 19, 2012.
