STAY AT HOME ORDER STILL IN EFFECT

The State's Regional Stay at Home Order remains in effect until further notice.

For the order to be lifted, the State’s projections must show that our region is expected to meet or exceed 15% ICU capacity in the next four weeks. We cannot communicate next steps until the State formally announces our region’s status.

We are experiencing the biggest surge of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Please stay home. Wear a mask if you must leave for essential activities.

Activities still allowed include:

  • Restaurant operations for take-out service, pick-up or delivery
  • Indoor retail operations permitted at 20% capacity with entrance metering and no eating or drinking in the stores.
  • Outdoor recreational facilities permitted only without any food, drink or alcohol sales.
  • Worship services and political expression are permitted outdoor only
  • Schools that are already open for in-person learning. No elementary school waivers
  • Non-urgent medical and dental care, child care and pre-K sectors are allowed to remain open when a remote option is not possible with appropriate infectious disease preventative measures including 100% masking and physical distancing.
  • Leaving your home to work at or patronize any business or other entity that is allowed to be open, to care for friends or family members who require assistance, and with or without a specific destination in mind (for example, to walk your dog, to engage in physical recreation, or simply to get some fresh air) as long as you maintain physical distancing and comply with any other applicable public health directives.

Activities not allowed & facilities to be closed include:

  • All gatherings with members of other households
  • Hotels and lodging closed except for critical infrastructure support only
  • All travel, except for critical services
  • Indoor recreational facilities
  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Personal care services
  • Museums, zoos, and aquariums
  • Movie theaters
  • Wineries
  • Bars, breweries, and distilleries

District 5 COVID-19 Resource Guide

covid

Supervisor Carson's office has put together a COVID-19 Resource Guide for District to help centralize the information and resources you need to know about the COVID-19 Pandemic.  It will be updated regularly, so be sure to check back often.

The site is organized into categories so you can get connected to resources specific to you (i.e.: Testing, Financial Help, Food Assistance, Faith Community, Seniors, etc)

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Vaccine

With the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines, we have entered a new phase of the pandemic—one that brings hope alongside continued need for precautions during this current surge. Vaccine administration began in Alameda County the week of 12/14/20. We are following the State’s prioritization framework, which is based on CDC recommendations and is evolving.

For more information and to sign up to be notified when it is your turn to get the vaccine, visit:https://covid-19.acgov.org/vaccines.

Vaccine Community Advisory Group

Residents and representatives from a variety of organizations across Alameda County have been invited to support safe, equitable vaccine distribution. While the State’s framework prioritizes vaccination for different groups of people over four phases, Alameda County has some local control over how those priorities are put into practice. We are seeking input on: vaccine prioritization, how to build more trust, effective messaging and managing misinformation. Learn more HERE.

Enroll Today in CA Notify

covid

In this time of alarming rises in cases and hospitalizations, it is more important than ever that all Californians do their part to stop the surge.

Launched on December 10, CA Notify is a new program that enables Californians to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to
someone who has tested positive for the virus.

The technology is available through the Google Play Store on Android devices or through iOS settings on their Apple devices.

CA Notify will alert users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. With that information, they can make responsible decisions around quarantine and testing, which is essential for
stopping the surge.

If you opt-in and get a positive test result, you will receive a code via text message from the California Department of Public Health.

This technology was built with public health and public trust in mind: it’s easy to use, and it protects your privacy. Californians must opt in to use it. No location data or personally identifiable information is ever collected, stored
or transmitted.

We need Californians to get this technology on their phones. The more people using it, the better we can stop the surge and save lives.

For more information about CA Notify, visit:  www.canotify.ca.gov.

Face Coverings Required at All Times

mask

Face coverings must be worn at all times by all members of the public, including outdoors while engaged in physical activities (walking, running, biking, etc.) and within 30 feet of people outside of their household.

Children aged 12 and younger are not required to wear a face covering, and any child two years old or younger should not wear a face covering. The County Order does not apply if a person is only with members of their own household and does not expect to come into contact with a member of the public. A person engaged in walking, hiking, bicycling, running, and other physical activities is not required to wear a face covering during the entire duration of their activity, but that person must carry a face covering that is easy to access so they can wear it once they are within 30 feet of other people.

Reimagining Public Safety Task Force

berk

On December 15, 2020, the Berkeley City Council voted to establish a Reimagining Public Safety Task Force to inform the development of a new and transformative model of positive, equitable and community centered safety for Berkeley. The Task Force will serve as the hub of a robust community engagement process led by the National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (NICJR). The Task Force will also provide input and make recommendations to NICJR on the development of a report with recommendations and an implementation plan.

The Task Force will be appointed with an eye toward ensuring a diversity of views, perspectives, and experiences. While Berkeley residents will be prioritized for appointment, non-Berkeley residents who are active Berkeley community members will be considered for At-Large seats. There will be a separate application process in the coming weeks for the At-Large seats.

The Task Force will likely meet in the evenings. Even if you’re not certain you can commit to the meeting schedule we still encourage you to apply!
