Now Available: RFP for Census Outreach Grants & Webinar Next Week

AlCo-Census2

Dear partners,

The Alameda County Census Office will award grants to organizations who can demonstrate the ability to conduct Census 2020 education and outreach to Hard-to-Count communities throughout the county. Grants range between $5,000 - $50,000. Applications must specify which Hard-to-Count populations the organization will target for Census 2020 promotion. In order to maximize resources, organizations should focus their efforts on the outreach they are best at conducting and rely on the County Census Office for materials, communication content, trainings, and technical assistance. Please note that the County Census Office also intends to fund technology implementation (application will be posted next week) and smaller outreach projects through mini-grants (applications will be available in mid-September).

The RFP deadline is Friday, August 16 at 5pm. Click here for application and details.

RFP Overview Webinar
Wednesday, July 17 from 12-1pm

(The webinar will be recorded and then posted on our YouTube Channel)

After reviewing the application, we invite you to send your questions to Alessia.Simmonds@acgov.org. We will collect questions until July 26 and we will post and share responses to these questions on August 1, 2019.

In other important news, Census 2020 will officially not include a question on citizenship. As Governor Newsom said in his joint op-ed with the governors of Oregon and Washington, a Census undercount "would significantly erode the political power of communities of color and reduce funding to vulnerable communities for things like health care services, education programs, and roads." Our office will continue to address the fear invoked by the proposed citizenship question in our educational outreach and materials.
