The Census is fundamental to our democracy. The Census count is used to determine our Congressional representation and allocate billions of federal dollars for programs that Alameda County residents – both immigrants and non-immigrants alike – benefit from every day. The future of our schools, health care, transportation, social services, and housing rely on a fair and accurate count of everyone.
Census 2020 poses significant challenges, especially for our immigrant communities. The proposed citizenship question, in combination with the actions of this administration, has incited significant fear about participating in this important count.
Alameda County's Complete Count Committee is forming an Immigrant Subcommittee to organize our CBO’s and advocates. We invite you to join our Census Solutions Workshop on Thursday, March 7 to learn more about the logistics of the Census, the status of the proposed citizenship question, and actions the Board of Supervisors have taken to support our immigrant community. We will discuss ways to address community concerns, to effectively share information, and to engage with immigrant communities throughout the County.
All of our communities belong here. By working together, we can ensure that Alameda County receives the resources we deserve.
Immigrant Subcommittee Census Solutions Workshop March 7, 2019 • 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fruitvale-San Antonio Senior Center (2nd Floor) 3301 East 12th Street, Oakland, CA 94601 RSVP on Eventbrite
