The Alameda County Board of Supervisors congratulate Cyrus Armajani, Literacy Specialist for receiving the KPIX Jefferson Award and for his 15 years of service, working with students of the Alameda County’s Write to Read program at Camp Sweeney!

The Write to Read program teaches literacy while also examining the social, economic, and political situations in life for the youth moving against the juvenile justice system. The 36 students who completed the 2016-2017 Write to Read session showed an average of six grade level gains in reading comprehension and other important literacy skills.
