Winter's cold weather exacerbates health challenges for the thousands of Alameda County residents who are living unsheltered on the streets and in encampments. You can access up-to-date winter shelter and warming station information on the Health Care for the Homeless Program website.

In this introductory child development training, participants will learn some basics about brain development, communication and language development and social-emotional development. . The program is designed to guide you from homelessness to housing. It will cover everything you need to know about finding and keeping housing. Individual housing counseling is available after the classes.

Nominations are being accepted for the 25th Annual Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame which honors extraordinary women making a difference in the community. Honorees will be celebrated at the 25th Annual Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame luncheon and awards ceremony on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland. Co-hosting the event will be the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women.

The deadline to submit nominations in any of these 13 categories is January 22, 2018. Submit a nomination today at http://www.acgov.org/whof/.

Media has been a tool that has proven to influence the minds, ideas, behaviors and attitudes of the masses. So is media a tool of the enemy or the people? Come out as TechActivist.Org to discuss the difference between corporate media and media made by the people for the people.

TechActivist.Org will kickoff this event with a discussion on the power of media and the role young Black and Brown people play in making media with Glen Ford, Executive Editor of Black Agenda Report (and a Certified Elder of the Black Journalism Tribe).

Job Opportunity: Temporary Workers for the Upcoming Statewide Primary Election!

The Alameda County TAP Unit is currently recruiting temporary workers for the upcoming Statewide Primary Election

This assignment will be with the Registrar of Voters and pays $21.14 per hour or $26.06 per hour, depending on the position.  We need to recruit for over 150 positions.

Positions include Instructors, Recruiters and Data Entry. Are you bilingual? TAP is also hiring for Bilingual Election Support (Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Khmer, Hindi, Punjabi, Japanese, Korean, and  Vietnamese)
