Funding Opportunities Available to Support the Reentry Population
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has re-issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) Facilities located in Alameda County. Application submissions are due to CDCR by 2/18/2019.
The overall objective of this RFI is to gather data and information on providers (Respondents) who have operational facilities that meet defined requirements used in a transitional, residential program for offenders nearing release from the CDCR institutions and correctional community facilities. Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) has issued a new grant that will provide up to $34.35 million to help people released from state prison secure housing and other transitional resources and services was approved 1/17/2019 by the Board of State and Community Corrections. The Budget Act of 2018 established the Adult Reentry Grant Program to provide funds to community-based organizations for helping individuals who have been formerly incarcerated in state prison with rental assistance and to help with the transition to services that can support successful reentry. The Request for Proposals will be posted on the BSCC homepage beginning January 18. Only community-based organizations that are registered 501(C)3 nonprofits may apply. Under the program $25 million will be available for rental assistance, and $9.3 million will support programs that help people being released from prison transition back into the communities where they will live.
Nonprofit community-based organizations may apply for up to $3 million for rental assistance services such as short-term emergency housing, landlord incentives, rent subsidies, vouchers and credit repair. Up to $500,000 is available over the 42-month grant cycle for case management, food, vocational services, behavioral health care and other transitional services. Proposals are due back to the BSCC by 3/24/2019.
