As a former player, I have eagerly watched a lot of the World Cup tournament this summer. Even the recent US defeat against Belgium was (mostly) a great game to watch. If you haven’t caught the World Cup fever yet, some of the best matches are still to come. The link below has details.

The World Cup reminded me that Tucson is a soccer-rich city. That’s why we were originally selected to host training for the Iranian team, which was unfortunately moved to Mexico because of the war, and which cost us millions in lost tourism revenue. But still – we have FC Tucson (link below) that has a pre-professional men’s Major League Soccer team, a women’s amateur team, and a youth academy.
There are plenty of youth soccer opportunities in Tucson, including: Arizona Youth Soccer Organization (three regions in Tucson!), FC Tucson Youth, RSL-AZ Pima County Surf, Maracana (indoor soccer), Renegades SC, i9 sport (with games at Ward 3’s McCormick Park).
Tucson Women’s Soccer League hosts both the adult recreational women’s and coed leagues. Tucson Metro Soccer League hosts the adult recreational men’s league. Links below.
Even if you don’t play, soccer is a great game to watch, either on television or on one of Tucson’s fields.

The Ward 3 Website Has A Unique New Feature
 We have a new feature on our Ward 3 Website! Have you ever wondered when your neighborhood association meets next, where they will meet, or what time? Wonder no more, the Ward 3 office is here to help out our constituents and solve problems! We have created a calendar that is now accessible online, reducing the need to go digging through emails trying to find the newsletter where you saw your Neighborhood association meeting listed 6 weeks ago.
Accessing the calendar is quite simple. Just follow these two easy steps. 1) Simply head on over to the Ward 3 Website. 2) In the sidebar, click on "Neighborhood Association Meeting Calendar."
 There are some added functionalities, too. If you click on the meeting, it will take you to the event page where you can see the location, time, and any other meetings taking place in the future.
 The search function works as well. Type in the name of your neighborhood association, and you should be redirected to the meeting page. If you want to go directly to the calendar, just click on the button below. We will include this button in our "Ward 3 Neighborhood Meetings" section of our newsletter from here on out.
We are still in the process of populating it with other neighborhood associations, but if yours is missing or not listed, please email us the dates, times, and locations, and we will be happy to add them.

Rigo is one such pup- a pretty extraordinary puppy who, at less than a year old, is learning to navigate the world while deaf and blind.
