2 Fully Equipped Explosive Ordinance and Disposal Vehicles Received

In June 2022, the Tucson Police Department (TPD) received two fully equipped Explosive Ordinance and Disposal (EOD) vehicles – thanks to Tucson Delivers/Safer City funding. Each Ford F-350 Super Duty Quad 4X4 vehicle offers officers – and K9 partners, if required - these critical features:
- Front-facing winch to extract potential explosives from populated areas
- On-board power inverter to charge batteries and extend reconnaissance drone flights
- Rear passenger dog kennels with secure water bowl
- Slide-out workbench and storage for easy access to technology & tools for field ops
TPD’s 9 teams of highly trained officers and K9s are available 24/7, ready, if called upon, to safely detect, disarm, and dispose explosive devices in transportation systems, public facilities, and events.

Click to tour Fire Station 9, the first new Tucson Fire Department station rebuilt with Tucson Delivers sales tax funds. Built in 1966, Fire Station 9 was one of the City’s oldest stations. Today, it’s considered one of the most modern fire stations in the country!

Fire Station 8’s rebuild is underway and slated to be complete by fall 2022. The rebuilt station, located on Prince west of Fairview, will continue to serve Ward 3.

Package 6 Fog Seal Complete
The fog seal on Package 6 included 42 arterial stretches and intersections. A fog seal is the light application of a diluted asphalt emulsion to existing asphalt. Fog sealing fills in cracks and helps to return surface elasticity and color – extending critical infrastructure life cycle.

Virtual or in-person Parks + Connections Bond Oversight Commission (PCBOC) meetings are open with time on the agenda for the public to comment. Click on the PCBOC info page, then the current agenda to check out “Call to the Audience” guidelines and accommodations. Due to Open Meeting Law, PCBOC members cannot discuss topics raised in “Call to the Audience” that are not on the agenda – but your input may be a future agenda item.

$3.45M to Rehabilitate Historic Fort Lowell
An Arizona State Parks Heritage grant combined with Tucson Delivers/Parks + Connections bond funds targets $3.45M to rehabilitate and preserve key historically significant structures at Historic Fort Lowell: the Commissary Apartments, the Donaldson House, the Hospital, and Cottonwood Lane, among others. This project was developed in partnership with Fort Lowell neighbors, historic preservation advocates, and the Pima County Cultural Resources & Historic Preservation Division. Work is slated to begin in 2023.

Renovations under construction now include a new splash pad, walking path, shaded playground, restrooms, LED lights at sports fields, and irrigation system.

The Michigan-Fair, Cherry, Greenway, Bantam, and Calle Alvord Bicycle Boulevards: Construction complete this summer. It expands our citywide bike network by 8 miles, connecting 9 schools, 10 parks, & 3 greenways.

The 3rd St-University Bicycle Boulevard: Construction starts this summer; complete late fall 2022

Treat Ave Bicycle Boulevard/Helen St to Barraza-Aviation Pkwy: This section is under construction now; complete late fall 2022
Bike boulevards incorporate new or upgraded signalized bicyclist & pedestrian crossings, traffic calming, buffered & protected bike lanes, ADA compliant ramps, plus stormwater & rainwater harvesting infrastructure.

Safer City/Better Streets Actual Activity as of 5.31.2022
Tucson Delivers Safer City/Better Streets revenue, funded via a dedicated half-cent sales tax approved by voters, continues to exceed targets. While this 2017 initiative sunsets at the end of June, the City’s accountability and delivery of Safer City/Better Streets projects continues. Initiative funds are committed to capital-intensive projects such as improving streets, rebuilding and remodeling facilities, and adding technology and equipment.

Great Parks + Strong Connections 2019-2022 Phase 1 Allocation through 6.16.2022
The Great Parks + Strong Connections is a voter-approved initiative funded by bonds. Improvements will occur in three phases over ten years, 2019-2028. The program is currently in the first phase of implementation.
